Indigenous Peoples-led use of Earth Observation United Nations HLPF
On the 9th of July, Space4Innovation joined a forum to discuss opportunities and challenges for increasing Indigenous Peoples engagement in the co-development, co-creation and use of satellite based ICT tools, contributing to the 2020 United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council – UNESOC. This side event served as a platform for Indigenous Peoples to discuss opportunities and challenges for increasing Indigenous Peoples engagement with other stakeholders in the co-development, co-creation and use of culturally relevant EO data and tools. Space4Innovation presented the Indigenous Hackathon methodology to mobilize Indigenous communities and the collective intelligence of the crowd to co-design culturally relevant ICT tools.
